Finally

Couldn't stand the windsock pic anymore
So many complaints were hard to ignore
I've taken a picture of the festive tree
But there are no boats or shells to see

We used all traditional lights and balls
To decorate our rooms and halls
We wish you all a happy time
And that's the end of this little rhyme

(Well, not yet, wasn't quite done
just ran out of time, I have to run)
It's supper time and it can't wait
Bruce is a bear if dinner is late!.....NOT

Becky and friend off to Christmas dance
Notice Pat, the walls are "Dapper Tan"

Ghastly Greetings!

A Ganz windsock~cute eh?

Unfortunately these were carved on Sunday~kinda wilted by Tues night

Hallowe'en in the north and true to form it was COLD.
Sounded like banshees in the trees; the wind was blowing so hard.
Other than that, a lovely evening in the north!

October Morning

Cool, crisp morning here with lots of frost.
The sun was just coming through the birches
Brrrr, glad there's wood in the stove!

From Autumn to Winter in 1.5 hours!

On October the 4th, I jumped on the plane
and travelled down south to the thunder and rain
I left a sunny, bright and lovely fall day
which isn't unusual up here in T. Bay.

Arriving in Oakville, the weather had cleared
and my safe timely arrival had mother quite cheered
I spent the first night on open out couch
and found the next day to have developed a slouch

That next morning I acquired a shiny beige auto
and risked life and limb on a trip to Toronto
I missed the exit that would get me to Parkside
but found the right house therefore ending the ride

Webkinz on display

Took Erin to work next day bright and early
and spent the day shopping in the hurly and burly
All the stores were quite lovely but the real big winner
Was the gigantic IKEA we went to before dinner

Mom, slash, Grammy was collected next day
and we headed to Puslinch about an hour away
We were happy to visit and see the new laddie
(and also his brand new mommy daddy)

Thanksgiving supper was hot and delicious
and before we knew it we were doing the dishes
Great Grandma, Grandpa , Daddy and son
posed for a picture, then the day's work was done

Chloe out on the trail

The rest of the week, the weather was great
and time went by quickly at quite a fast rate
Time once again to get back on the plane
Going home to some snow (wished it was rain)

Our house and our dog in the snow...arghhh

Happy October!

Lovely day here, so Becky and I went for a drive to take in the colours and take some pictures. Not much variety here, but smaller bushes etc show some reds and oranges.

Coming home last night we chased a young bull moose down the road...what a hoot!
This is the moose we had in our driveway a couple summers ago, the one last night was quite a bit bigger.

And after the storm...

Actually not a storm, just a "sun-shower" with a pretty result.
We have had a couple days of rain and drizzle accompanied by cool weather , so the fire restrictions have been lifted. Still the smell of smoke from time to time and some of the bush roads are still closed, but the end is hopefully in sight.

(I know...two blog postings in a week...must be bored now that I'm not working eh?)

Smoke and Flames

No, I didn't take this one...but currently there are some
dandy "plumes" about 60-80 km north of here

Ah, life in the northwestern part of Ontario in the fall.
Actually very odd for so many fires to exist this time of year. It is very dry with very little hope of much rain in the near future.
We aren't directly affected here, thank goodness, but smoke does drift this way periodically.
Alot of bow hunters are going to be very annoyed this weekend when they can't access the bush roads...most access points are closed.

We are above and to the right of what appears to be the "eye" in Lake Superior
(currently 309 active fires on this map)

simple as pie

Would love to send some photos of a puppy small and new,
But the dog we have is old and her attributes are few.

Would love to send some photos of a baby sweet and small
But the kids we have are grown and will not pose at all.

Would love to send some photos of a sunset on the shore
But the view from here is trees and barely anything more.

So here's the latest blog of a delicious lemon pie
Don't know when we took the picture and even wonder why.

Hope everyone is well...we are. Life as we know it as a family of three these
days is about to dwindle to two in a couple weeks. You may want to call every now
and then to make sure we are surviving ;)

Another graduation day!

Another graduation over and done. The public school system will be seeing no more of this family (well at least this generation). Fortunately the graduate has acquired a summer job slinging ice cream cones and slurpies at the local "little red barn" adjacent to the gas station.
Happy Canada Day everybody!

Oh, and Happy Birthday Bob!

spring has sprung

new batch of lady slippers

Sorry, prom pictures are still being traded via emails from one "promee" to another so don't have any yet. I do however have pictures of other beauties to show you. Sorry, couldn't resist. (That one was for Tcam)!

Graduation Day

the happy graduate

Well, one down, one to go...
Erin had a very nice graduation ceremony today, it took about 2 hours. Mom and Dad were proud, and sister was constantly watching Dad's watch because the seconds were ticking away towards Prom night.
Here's some photos...

Early morning visitor

Had a visit from a bear this morning, not a big one, but I sent him packing. Don't want them around. He came within about 100m of the house. Typically, he wasn't very concerned about the fact that I was standing on the deck yelling at him and clapping my hands. They always give you one of those, "oh brother, give me a break" looks.

A new driver...hope she's a putter!

Well, northern Ontario roads have yet another new driver...Becky got her license today.
So, when her parents get around to including her on their insurance, she will be off any running. She did well, taking her test at noon rush hour in Thunder Bay (no, there really isn't such a thing).

Also, sending off a couple photos of a lovely spring day here. The lunas (there are 2) were romancing on the pine tree. Love is in the air!
