Smoke and Flames

No, I didn't take this one...but currently there are some
dandy "plumes" about 60-80 km north of here

Ah, life in the northwestern part of Ontario in the fall.
Actually very odd for so many fires to exist this time of year. It is very dry with very little hope of much rain in the near future.
We aren't directly affected here, thank goodness, but smoke does drift this way periodically.
Alot of bow hunters are going to be very annoyed this weekend when they can't access the bush roads...most access points are closed.

We are above and to the right of what appears to be the "eye" in Lake Superior
(currently 309 active fires on this map)

Wow..that is too close. Hope that the fires continue to go away from you. It would be an awful worry for you to be evacuated from your home. You can always come and bunk here at any time though.
The poor forest animals!

I meant...how about the animals in the forest? Where do they go to get away from the fires?

From pies to plumes-from the absurd to the scarey stuff.
We are finally getting some rain. and a stiff breeze. It's a good day to hunker down with a book, so after the Terry Fox run, that's what we did.
